No effect in primary stability after increasing interference fit in cementless TKA tibial components

چکیده

Cementless total knee arthroplasty (TKA) implants rely on interference fit to achieve initial stability. However, the optimal is unknown. This study investigates effect of using different stability tibial TKA implants. Experiments were performed human cadaveric tibias a low 350 μm clinically established cementless porous-coated implant and high 700 μm. The Orthoload peak loads gait squat applied specimens with custom-made load applicator. Micromotions gaps opening/closing measured at bone-implant interface Digital Image Correlation (DIC) in 6 regions interest (ROIs). Two multilevel linear mixed-effect models created micromotions as dependent variables. results revealed no significant differences for between two fits (gait p = 0.755, 0.232), nor 0.474, 0.269). In contrast, found ROIs variables (p < 0.001), where more gap closing was seen posterior than anterior during both loading configurations. showed that increasing from did not influence

Clinical Outcomes of Tibial Components with Modular Stems Used in Primary TKA

Due to the known potential for fretting and corrosion at modular junctions in orthopaedic implants, this retrospective study evaluated radiographic and clinical outcomes of 85 primary TKA patients implanted with modular stemmed tibial components and followed up for an average of 82 months. There was low incidence of tibial radiolucent lines, excellent functional outcomes, and no complications a...

Comparative in vitro assessment of the primary stability of cementless press-fit acetabular cups.

Long-term stable osseointegration of porous-coated acetabular cups depends on bony ingrowth within their porous surface. For ingrowth to take place, one must ensure rigid initial fixation of the implant, by means of screws or by impaction or using a threaded ring. Primary stability is a prerequisite for long term stability through bony ingrowth. We tested several cups commonly used in our depar...

TKA following high tibial osteotomy versus primary TKA - a matched pair analysis

BACKGROUND High tibial osteotomy (HTO) is a well established technique for the treatment of medial osteoarthritis of the knee with varus malalignment. Results of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) after previous HTO are still discussed controversially. The aim of this study was to elucidate the clinical and radiological results as well as perioperative data of prior HTO on TKA. METHODS Forty-one T...

Pigmented villonodular synovitis after TKA associated with tibial component loosening.

There is no known causal link between total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS). There also is no known relationship between PVNS and implant loosening after TKA in the literature. This article presents a case of PVNS in a patient undergoing revision TKA for tibial component loosening. A 74-year-old woman who had undergone cemented bilateral TKA 5 years earlier p...

Comparison of cementless and hybrid cemented total knee arthroplasty.

Cementless total knee arthroplasty (TKA) implants were designed to provide long-term fixation without the risk of cement-associated complications. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the outcome of titanium-coated cementless implants compared with hybrid TKA implants with a cemented tibial and a cementless femoral component. The authors performed a case-control, single-center study of 120...
